An AI Interview-Prep MVP, Shipped on a Tight Scope

Dru Connold 5 min read

A good minimum viable product (MVP) proves the idea fast without cutting the corners that matter. A recent artificial intelligence (AI) MVP development project we delivered for a US ed-tech client is a clean example: a real AI product, built to a tight fixed scope and shipped on time.

The brief

The client needed an AI interview-prep MVP: a tool that lets candidates run through realistic practice interviews and get useful, structured feedback, built on a short fixed timeline.

What we built

  • A full-stack web application on a modern JavaScript stack, with user accounts.
  • An AI-assisted practice-interview experience that serves relevant questions and returns structured feedback.
  • Sensible production engineering around the AI: guardrails, fallbacks, and cost control, so it holds up with real users.
  • Online payments and subscriptions.

The result

Shipped on time and within the fixed scope, and well received by the client. A working AI product in front of real users, fast.

The lesson

Two things made the timeline possible: a tightly scoped MVP (the few features that prove the concept, nothing more) and pragmatic AI engineering with proper fallbacks so it held up in production. That combination is repeatable. See our MVP development service, or read more about the build.
